This page will hopefully answer any questions you may have if you are considering a Church Wedding in this church.
Can we marry in Church if we are not Baptized (Christened)?
Yes
Can we marry in Church if we are divorced?
This is dependent on the circumstances and is considered on a case-by-case basis.
Can we marry in this Church?
You can marry in this Church if you fulfill any of the following criteria:
You live in the Parish or have done for at least 6 months.
You have been Baptized/Christened there or prepared for Confirmation there.
You have at anytime regularly attended church services for at least 6 months. (By regularly we mean at least monthly)
One of your parents, at anytime after your birth have lived in the Parish or regularly attended church services for at least 6 months.
Either your parents or grandparents were married in the parish.
Is a marriage service in church personal to us?
Yes!
Whilst you cannot make up your own vows, we make the service as personal to you as we can.
You can choose the hymns and music you want, including have CDs played.
If you have children there are ways we can include them in the service, so that they also feel special and part of the day.
What does it cost to get married in the Church?
Fees for a marriage service are set nationally.
For the service, reading of the banns (part of the legal preliminaries) and marriage certificate, it is around £500. Fees are revised each year.
On top of that are things called ‘additional extras’ these are for services we have to pay for like an organist, choir, bellringers. You choose whether or not you want these and only pay for what you have.
Whatever your situation, talk to us first.
We love to be able to say YES to conducting your marriage service in this church.
